At Regal Custom Pools & Spas, LLC, we don’t recommend draining your pool or equipment other than water feature pumps. Water features are always problems in the winter time because of the massive amount of evaporation in the air in addition to the exposed water which can freeze quickly during cold temperatures. Since Texas gives us stretches of warm weather during the winter we don’t ever shut our pools completely down. Your pool should have a freeze guard device which allows your pool to come on automatically.
